Programme overview
A hands-on programme that takes welders from fundamentals to qualified GTAW performance on pipe and plate in stainless, low-alloy and nickel-alloy grades. Trainees weld production-representative coupons throughout and finish by attempting an ASME Section IX qualification test.
What you will be able to do
- Set up and operate GTAW equipment safely and correctly
- Select filler metals, shielding gases and purge techniques by material grade
- Weld 6G pipe joints to ASME Section IX acceptance criteria
- Identify, prevent and rectify common weld defects
- Interpret WPS, PQR and WQT documentation
